EPS adopts new program to manage school, community flyers

Communication from Enid Public Schools, and its community partners, will take another step forward this year with the adoption of PeachJar, an online solution that delivers flyers and notes digitally to families.
Board of Education members approved an agreement with PeachJar this week. The service will be free for EPS. In fact, schools across the nation have reported as much as $36,000 in savings annually after adopting the program.
“With 7,900 students, it takes a great deal of paper, ink and labor to send notes home with students, especially for our community partners who are promoting programs for families,” said Amber Graham Fitzgerald, Executive Director of Human Resources and Communications. “We want to be as financially efficient as possible. This electronic solution is expected to save the school district and local organizations time and money, while still accomplishing the goal of sharing information with parents. It’s win-win – plus it’s environmentally friendly.”
Schools will send parent flyers and notes through regularly scheduled emails, and the materials will be posted to the district’s website for up to one month at a time. Paper copies will be available in the school office and, when necessary, will be sent home with students at the principal’s discretion.
EPS also will allow local community partners to use PeachJar for a fee (paid directly to the company) that is comparable to printing and labor costs associated with traditional paper flyers. Non-profits offering a free event to families can use the service for no charge.
PeachJar will replace the district’s current process for sending home community-related flyers in students’ backpacks. All community flyers will be required to meet board of education policy and administrative guidelines. Community partners will work directly with PeachJar to upload their flyers or full-color, multi-page brochures, which will then be sent to district representatives for approval before being forwarded to parents.
Organizations and schools using PeachJar also will have access to a “sign-up now” feature that allows parents to register for events online.
