Emerson's Time Capsules

During the school year 1999-2000, the Student Council of Emerson Junior High, decided a good project for the millennium year would be to bury time capsules from each of the three grades at Emerson -
7th, 8th, and 9th grade. Charles Snyder, Student Council President, was going to build a marquee in front of Emerson as part of his Eagle Scout project, so it was decided the time capsules would be buried at the base of the marquee.

Mrs. Judy DeVaughn, Student Council Sponsor, and the STUCO officers began inviting students to bring items to place inside the time capsules. Students placed pictures, letters, and poems
inside large capsules. On January 3, 2000, the first day of school
in the year 2000, a ceremony took place to bury the time capsules. January 3, 2050 is the date set to open the time capsules.

Joe and Sherry Kline of Kline Signs, L.L.C. donated the sign section of the marquee.
