— Missy Dennis, Vocational Training Director

Course Description

This program is designed to assist students in maintaining successful employment in the community, explore vocational, military, and post-secondary training options, provide students
with information about career options, and identify the necessary skills needed to succeed in the work place.

Course Guidelines

Students who enter the Vocational Training Program without a job must be willing to apply for jobs on their own time. The instructor will work with students to help find openings. It is up to the student to present his/herself in a prompt, courteous, and well-groomed manner.

Work Expectations and Requirements

  • After a student is hired, the student should perform their duties and carry out their tasks in a manner that will bring positive recognition to themselves, the Vocational Training Program, and Lincoln Academy. They must be neat and professional in appearance.
  • When enrolling in the program and after a job change status, the student must return the completed Verification of Employment form back to the Vocational Training Director. The form must be completed and signed by the students supervisor and returned to the Vocational Training Director before earning credit for the class.

Quitting/Termination of a Position

Approval of the instructor is needed before a student quits his/her job. Any student fired from his/her job for good reason (stealing, dishonesty, alcohol and/or drug possession, etc.) will receive a failing grade for the semester. Any student who is fired for other reasons will be investigated by the Vocational Training Director to see if termination from the program is deemed necessary.

Field Trips

Throughout the year classroom field trips are taken to surrounding community businesses. This helps the students visually see how the effects of classroom learning carries into the workforce.
