EPS, CDSA of Oklahoma and United Way Partner to Host #SelfieRespect
Enid Public Schools is partnering with the CDSA of Oklahoma and United Way of Enid for the summit #SelfieRespect.
Held at the Enid High School Auditorium on May 7, this event will provide an opportunity for students and their parents to attend sessions about online and social media etiquette. #SelfieRespect will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
The summit will include presentations by My Life Online, a world-wide education platform, that will focus on three main points: teaching students to be safe, smart and kind online; equipping parents with the tools they need to have meaningful conversations about social media with their children; and empowering schools to teach crucial life skills for kids to thrive in the 21st century.
My Life Online will begin with a session for parents in the morning, lasting 9:30-10:30 a.m., followed by sessions for both incoming 6th graders and parents. There will also be a luncheon for a students to socialize together and learn about extracurricular opportunities available at the middle school level.
“We are very happy to be collaborating with community organizations to teach our young learners about internet awareness and safety,” said Doug Stafford, Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education at EPS. “We want to give our students the tools to be successful and, most importantly, safe with their screen time. Working with the CDSA and United Way has given us the resources to make that a reality.”
Transportation will be provided to students by EPS.
