EPS Strategic Planning

Enid Public Schools is setting its course for the future.

Board of Education members approved the district’s strategic action plan during their regular meeting Monday night. The plan’s development, six months in the making, included input from a cross-section of community members including parents, students, teachers, staff, business leaders and volunteers.

“We now proudly present this plan to the community with deep appreciation for their contribution throughout the process,” Superintendent Dr. Darrell Floyd said. “Every day, we strive to ensure that every child reaches his or her greatest potential and this plan will help us raise the bar for how we serve students. It is a plan developed by Enid residents for Enid’s children. As we begin to implement its goals and strategies, we know the best is yet to come.”

The district, assisted by Engage Learning, received more than 1,000 points of feedback during the planning process, including public meetings, a survey and focus groups. Additionally, representatives from different stakeholder groups helped develop the plan during multiple committee meetings.

The plan, which will be evaluated and revised on a regular basis, focuses on seven core areas:

Personnel/Professional Development: We will commit our time and resources to the recruitment and retention of highly qualified teachers and support personnel through continuous opportunities for professional growth.

Facilities: We will provide and maintain exemplary facilities that are clean, safe and secure for all students. These facilities will enhance learning opportunities in every curricular and extracurricular activity.

Community/Parent Relationships: We will build and maintain partnerships that maximize the strengths, resources and talents of our diverse community to expand opportunities for students.

Curriculum/Instruction: We will build and maintain relationships that maximize the strengths, resources and talents of our diverse community to provide an environment where learners will become responsible, well-rounded, global citizens.

Assessment/Accountability: We will hold the learning community to high expectations through continual evaluation and communication of results.

Enrichment Opportunities: We will enrich students' experiences through co and extracurricular activities by providing excellent programs, facilities and personnel support based on student interest.

Character Development: We will develop and reinforce the character of each student with an emphasis on a solid values-based system through in-school instruction, community partnerships and mentoring.
