Sleep
Sleep enables children to think clearly and excel in school.  Sleep also keeps children healthy and helps them get along with others.

How much sleep do children need? Kids need more sleep than adults.
  • Teens need at least 9 hours of sleep each night.
  • School-aged children need at least 10 hours of sleep each night.
  • Preschoolers need to sleep between 11 to 12 hours a day.
  • Newborns need to sleep between 16 and 18 hours a day.

Keep bedtime at the same each evening.  Bedtime routines are helpful to getting children to wind down in order to sleep; a warm bath, reading books together or some other quiet activity will get children ready for sleeping. Video games and television excite the brain, making sleep hard to accomplish, so limiting video and TV time may help your child rest.  ZZZZZZzzzzzzzz.
