Chris Elerick

Enid Public Schools is pleased to announce Chris Elerick as the new head football coach at Enid High School. He will also serve as the Assistant Athletic Director.

His duties will begin February 2.

“On behalf of the Enid Athletics I want to welcome Coach Elerick to the team,” said Robb Mills, EPS Athletic Director. “He will bring a lot of success, experience, and enthusiasm to Plainsmen football. I am excited for him to get started building for the future. Go Plainsmen!”

Elerick began his football coaching career in 1997 at Yale Public Schools where he stayed until he was hired at Stroud Public Schools in 2005, where he spent 15 years as the head football coach building a successful program. He then took a position as the head coach at Drumright Public Schools where he has been since 2023. He also served as the Athletic Director for Drumright, leading the coaching staff as well as overseeing athletic facilities for the district.

His overall career record as a head football coach is 216-88.

“I want to give a big thank you to the leadership and board of Enid schools for trusting me with this job,” said Elerick. “I am excited about the opportunity and ready to go to work with our athletes, our staff, and the community as a whole.”

Elerick is a member of the Oklahoma Coaches Association and the Oklahoma Football Coaches Association. He has a Bachelor of Education, History Education, from the University of Central Oklahoma and holds Oklahoma certifications in United States History, European and World History, and Physical Education. He enjoys presenting at annual conferences on how to build programs and inspire teams.

“We are extremely excited to have Coach Elerick leading our EHS football program,” said Dr. Dudley Darrow, superintendent. “Coach Elerick has ton of successful head coaching experience and is extremely well respected among his peers across the state. We are eager to get him on campus and working with our students, and we are very optimistic about our future.”

Elerick said he is looking forward to building a program at EHS and committing to the athletes of EPS, saying, “I can’t wait to get my feet on the ground and get moving as we lay a foundation including the youth programs and the middle schools up to the highest levels of varsity football. With everyone pulling in the same direction we can create a lot of momentum and energy and I’m looking forward to it.”

Elerick is married to Keri and they have the honor of being the parents of Drew, 24, and Grant, 24, who is married to Noah. They are following in their father’s footsteps and coaching at Cashion and Dewey respectively.
