January is School Board Recognition Month and an opportunity for local schools and communities to honor Oklahoma's more than 2,500 elected school board members for their dedication to children and schools.
"Enid Public Schools looks forward to celebrating our excellent board every year," said Dr. Dudley Darrow, Superintendent of EPS. "Our board members are dedicated to our students and staff and we take the time every January to say ‘thank you’ for their continued support.”
School board members across the state develop policies and make tough decisions regarding complex educational and social issues that impact the entire community. EPS board members bear responsibility for an annual budget of $101 million, over 7,100 students, over 1,000 employees and 18 schools.
“School board members are pivotal in ensuring student success,” said Darrow. “We are incredibly thankful for their passion for public education and support of EPS students and staff.”
The men and women serving on the EPS Board, and the year they began their service, are Rev. Joe Blackwood, 2020; Matt Lohman, 2021; Randy Long, 2022; Chad Mantz, 2021; Matt Sampson, 2014; Dr. Kim Tinius, 2024; Torry Turnbow, 2014; and Vance Air Force Base honorary member Col. Benjamin Jans, 2025.
